The “Failing NY Times” Went Too Far This Time
Hours after the Baseball Shooter had severely injured Rep. Steve Scalise and several others, the NY Times smeared Sarah Palin as if she were somehow at fault. Here’s what the NY Times wrote:
Was this attack evidence of how vicious American politics has become? Probably. In 2011, Jared Lee Loughner opened fire in a supermarket parking lot, grievously wounding Representative Gabby Giffords and killing six people, including a 9-year-old girl. At the time, we and others were sharply critical of the heated political rhetoric on the right. Before the shooting, Sarah Palin’s political action committee circulated a map that showed the targeted electoral districts of Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs. But in that case no connection to the shooting was ever established.
After the blow back from the right the NY Times was forced to offer a correction 2 days later
Correction: June 16, 2017
An editorial on Thursday about the shooting of Representative Steve Scalise incorrectly stated that a link existed between political rhetoric and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established. The editorial also incorrectly described a map distributed by a political action committee before that shooting. It depicted electoral districts, not individual Democratic lawmakers, beneath stylized cross hairs.
Apparently Sarah Palin has had enough of being attacked every time some left wing lunatic (the Giffords shooter was also a Democrat) goes berserk and starts shooting people. The correction wasn’t enough, this time Palin is firing back with a big fat lawsuit.
The lawsuit says, “Mrs. Palin brings this action to hold The Times accountable for falsely stating to millions of people that she, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who committed a substantial portion of her adult life to public service, is part of a pattern of ‘lethal’ politics and responsible for inciting an attack that seriously injured numerous people and killed six, including a nine-year-old girl who, at that time, was the same age as Mrs. Palin’s youngest daughter.”
Thatt’s not all. They also hammered the NY times for their non-apology-apology, referencing the “half-hearted Twitter apologies, none of which sufficiently corrected the falsehoods that the paper published. In fact, none mentioned Mrs. Palin or acknowledged that Mrs. Palin did not incite a deranged man to commit murder.”
There was zero evidence in the Giffords incident that Palin in any way influenced the situation with her election map. It didn’t even mention any Representatives. It just targeted districts to win in the election. But the deranged left – with their autistic hyper literalism syndrome – noticed the cross-hairs on Palin’s election map and immediately drew the conclusion that the mere mention of a gun related meme in political discussions was enough to convict Palin for the Giffords shooting.
Never mind the fact that Jared Lee Loughner was a lefty Democrat that was reportedly using powerful street and / or prescription psychotropic drugs on a daily basis prior to shooting Giffords. Never mind the fact that James Thomas Hodgkinson was a rabid socialist, pro-Bernie Sanders, anti Republican, nut case with a list of six Republican Politician’s names in his pocket. Just ignore that and blame Sarah Palin because of her pro 2nd Amendment views.
The NY Times is a propaganda mouthpiece for the Democrat party that routinely prints lies & smears. This time it’s going to cost them. Are there really people that still read that fish wrapper???
